A Noire Story
My meowmy, Adel, found me on Kijiji even though she was told to adopt from a shelter instead. What a rebel! She wanted a black cat and the wait list and process for adopting one through her local shelter was too onerous. She saw my baby photo and fell in love. I was being put up for adoption by Jenny, an independent who does cat rescue up in Owen Sound, Ontario.
I was found abandoned at about 5 weeks at a dump site near Highway 5. My birth mother was probably a stray cat who was killed by a car. I don’t know who my daddy is. I was rescued by Jenny and given a temporary home. Even though I was a little runty because of severe malnutrition as a newborn, meowmy didn’t mind and adopted me at three months. I arrived at my furrever home in Downtown, Toronto on August 26th, 2021 at 10:20pm and made myself comfortable. I guess we were meant for each other.
I’m a very outgoing and playful cat. One of my favourite things to do is zoom around the apartment, making sure to pass through my tunnel to check in on Electric Fish who’s made it his permanent home. I also like to sneak attack meowmy and play fight with her even if she always wins. My favourite toy is Flying Bird. I play with her most days, pretending to hunt and pounce. I’m an only cat who still chases her tail on occasion. They say I’ll grow out of it but I don’t think so. I’m a kitten at heart. When I’m not playing, I’m usually taking a nap in the FELT C.A.T Cave, The Kitty Hammock or one of my myriad sleeping spots. You know how us C.A.Ts do. Some of my other favourites are:
Pretty Litter
CATIT Lickable Treats
Purina Beyond® Grain Dry Cat Food
I became an indoor/outdoor cat in Summer 2022 and my world opened up! Meowmy struggled with this for a while because of all the potential “dangers” but she saw how happy it made me so she compromised. I get to go outside for a little bit everyday.
That’s my unfolding story! Follow me on INSTAGRAM for the rest. If you want to tell me yours, you can write us at adel.tipora@gmail.com. Also, if you want to help Jenny, who’s doing heroic work as an independent rescuer, please send monetary donations for cat food and litter via e-transfer to march@live.ca or just email her to find out how you can help. She didn’t ask me to do this but I’m just so grateful she saved me and brought me to my person. I want that for other cats.
I’ll end with a fun fact you can’t tell anyone:
I pride myself in being the blackest of black cats but I have 5 white hairs sprouting on my belly and it’s not from old age! 😹
